The Chairman of the National Commission on Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (NCPBM); Peter Mafany Musonge has urged the population of the North West and South West regions of Cameroon to be patient and remain calm while their grievances are being attended to by the Government of Cameroon.

After the street protest that took place on the 22nd of September in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon (that led to the death of 5 people), the National Commission on Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (NCPBM) have been seriously working behind the scene to make sure that the grievances of the Anglophone Cameroonians are attended to urgently.

For the first time (after Musunge's Commission started work some two months ago), the members of the National Commission on Bilingualism and Multiculturalism scheduled a 3 day high level visits to 5 top state institutions in Cameroon. The visit began yesterday the 25th of September and will end on the 27th September 2017.

The 5 top state institutions that will be visited in the upcoming days include, The Senate, National Assembly, the Prime Minister's office, The Supreme Court and the  Economic and Social Council.

The visits are intended to acquaint heads of those institutions with the missions of the National Commission on Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (NCPBM) and the critical role those state institutions also have to play in contributing to the fulfillment of the mandate of the commission.

Yesterday the 25th of September at midday, the commission visited the Senate House and were warmly received by the Senate President Marcel Niat Njifenji. During the meeting, the Chairman of the National Commission on Bilingualism and Multiculturalism; Peter Mafany Musonge called for collaboration with the Senate which is one of the highest institutions of the country in promoting Bilingualism, Multiculturalism and living together in Cameroon.  In the same day i.e. the 25th of September (after the visit to the Senate at Midday), Musonge's Commission also visited the National Assembly at 4:00pm and were received by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yegiue Djibril. Discussions also focused on the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.

The members of the National Commission on Bilingualism and Multiculturalism are scheduled to continue their three day high level visits to state institutions on the 26th and 27th September 2017.

Today Tuesday the 26th of September, Musonge and his team will visit the Prime Minister’s Office and meet with the Prime Minister Head of Government, Philemon Yang and tomorrow the 27th of September, they will visit the President of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice Ekobe Daniel and the President of the Economic and Social Council, Ayang Luc.

The chairman of the National Commission on Bilingualism and Multiculturalism urged all Cameroonians to remain calm, responsible and avoid actions that might lead to the destruction of what has been built because tomorrow what is destroyed would have to be rebuilt.

Peter Mafany Musonge in his word to the population of the North West and South West regions, said they should know that their grievances have been heard and they are being addressed.

He added that it requires a bit of patience for all that they have asked for to be studied and adequate responses provided hence the reason why Anglophone Cameroonians have to be patient.
