THE HISTORY OF THE ONE AND INDIVISIBLE CAMEROON (FORMERLY KNOWN AS KAMERUN)

AND

WHY UN, COMMON WEALTH, LA FRANCOPHONIE, AU AND OTHER REPUTABLE ORGANISATION WILL NEVER SUPPORT THE DIVISION OF CAMEROON.

Since the onset of the Anglophone crisis or the beginning of the Ambazonian movement, there has been a great misconception and misuse of the term "separation" and "secession". Many ignorant Ambazonians believe they are separatists and not secessionists insinuating that Southern Cameroon was a "separate territory or nation" which decided to join Northern Cameroon. Is that true?? Was there any nation known as Southern (West) Cameroon in UN archive??. Thats the $64,000 question i.m going to answer in this post. But before i start discussing about the subject matter, let me first of all quickly answer one FAQ about Mwalimu Solo.

Last month after i published a post informing the youth in Akwaya about the ulterior motive of president Biya, many people began asking me questions like; Mwalimu Solo you be two side cutlass??, where do you belong?? you don confuse???... blah blah blah. Let me make it very clear that Mwalimu Solo is a peace maker and the position of every genuine peacemaker in any dispute is always in the middle. Thats why i,m always caught in a crossfire between the Ambazonians and LRC. In addition to that, i,m also a resource person and as a resource person, my main objective is to bring about transparency by enlightening the Southern Cameroon masses so that they can be able to take an inform decision about whether to affiliate with LRC or the Ambas. The people of southern Cameroon deserve to know the truth.

Ok the foreplay is over now. Let,s get down to business.

Like i said before, in this post i will be discussing about popular misconceptions like Secession, separation and independence. Whenever i used the word secessionist or secession to describe the Ambazonians or their activity, i,m always criticized by people who strongly believe separation is the right term and not secession.

Let me make it very clear that the Southern Cameroonians are trying to secede and not separate from Kamerun.Cameroon (formerly known as Kamerun) has never been separated in to two nations.

The cock and bull story of Britain and France division of Cameroon is the main fallacy that has polluted the minds of most southern Cameroonians and paved the way for SCNC to hijack this peaceful Anglophone struggle initiated by Barrister Agbor Balla.

Listen up!!! Mr Sisiku AyukTabe

Britian and France partitioning of Cameroon was a provincial or regional partitioning and not a territorial partitioning. Put simply, Southern Cameroon has never been a nation but one of the two regions of Kamerun during Britain&France administration. In 1916 (i.e. after the first world war) UN handed Kamerun to Britain and France as a trust territory and not as their colony and so they had no power to divide Kamerun in to two separate territories. Britain and France were only given the responsibility to prepare kamerun for independece and majority rule while exploiting the raw materials of the territory.

They were given that important responsibility because after Germany was ousted from Kamerun, the nation was void or deficient of Administrators (but had just local chiefs). It should be noted that during the German colonial era, Kamerun was strictly ruled by the Germans and so the Kamerunians at that time lack the experience or political expertise to govern themselves....thats why Kamerun was trusted to Britain and France so that they could prepare the Kamerunians for self rule (independence). In 1916, if Kamerun had administrators (like Ahidjo, Foncha, Muna, Endeley etc) who could effectively and efficiently govern Cameroon, UN would have granted Independence to Kamerun in 1916 (after the Germans were ousted) and there would have been nothing like Southern Cameroon VS Northern Cameroon today. But that wasn,t the case.... thats why Kamerun was placed under the trusteeship of Britain and France.

After Kamerun was placed under the trusteeship of Britain and France, both parties agreed to partition Kamerun in to two regions i.e. the Southern region of Cameroon and the Northern region of Cameroon to ease their administration of the trust territory. Just like Cameroon (formerly known as Kamerun) has been divided in to 10 regions today for the same reason. Britain decided to control the Southern region (the smaller part) and France; the Northern region (the larger part).

Britain and France ruled the two regions of Kamerun using two antagonistic systems of Administration. I think that's one of the reasons why there is disagreement between the English and the French Speaking regions of Cameroon today.

The Southern region of Kamerun was ruled using the Anglosaxon system of Administration (and as an external part of Nigeria) while Northern Cameroon was ruled using the crook French system of Administration. The two systems are just like oil and water.

To cut a long story short, in 1961 the Northern Cameroon elites sent a petition to the UN, requesting that the UN should terminate the trusteeship period of France and their request was granted. On the 1st of January 1960 the Northern region of Kamerun (4/5th of Kamerun) was granted independence. Under normal circumstances the UN would have brought together the two regions (i.e. the Southern and Northern Cameroon) of Kamerun and granted independence to the two regions as one nation (Kamerun) without asking for the opinion of the Southern Cameroonians because Kamerun was never separated by Britain and France. In addition to that, the Southern region of Cameroon was just 1/5 of Kamerun and therefore not worthy to be recognized as a nation then. Nevertheless the UN; being a diplomatic body and the chief promoter of peace, decided to ask the Southern Cameroonians if they would like to join their biological brothers; the Northern Cameroonians or join their step brothers; the Nigerians to avoid these grievances or problems that the Southern Cameroonians are facing today. For those of you who don,t know, Southern Cameroon was ruled as an external part of Nigeria for more than 30 yrs (far longer than they had lived together with the Northern Cameroonians). So it was therefore wise for UN to seek the opinion of the Southern Cameroonians rather than forcing them to reunite with the French Section of Kamerun.

So in 1961 a referendum (plebiscite) was held in Southern Cameroon. The northern part of West Cameroon made up of Muslims (which constituted about 2/5th of the West Cameroon population ) voted to join Nigeria while the Southern part (3/5th) of West Cameroon voted to reunite with Northern Cameroon giving birth to the one and indivisible federal republic of "Cameroon or Cameroun" as it was in the German colonial era.

I will like to conclude by clearly reiterating the fact that Cameroon has always been recognized as one nation by UN, Common wealth, La Francophonie, AU and other reputable organisations. In other words those top organisations will never support the division of Cameroon. They may only support that a federal system of Government be implemented in Cameroon if the Southern Cameroonians play their marginalization cards right.

I REST MY CASE!!!.
