A progressive non-profit organization in Cameroon called the Association for Cultural Awareness, which was established in 2007, is looking for a Secretary.
The Association for Cultural Awareness is a communication sensitization platform created for the promotion of socio-cultural initiatives towards the development of human consciousness.
To accomplish its objectives, the association operates several projects including a periodical publication, organization of inter-faith based public lectures and cultural exchanges, maintenance of a media presence, civil society activism and a range of other community-based initiatives for humanitarian service and development.
The organization’s main secretariat is currently situated on the left hand side of the Bamenda-Wum Road, next to PSS Bafut in the Agyati quarter of the Mezam Division, NWR, Cameroon.
Applicants submitting dossiers for the function of Secretary should be at least 21 years of age and have a diploma or certificate in secretarial duties with basic work experience.
He/she must be able to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher and be computer literate enough to receive instructions and conceive letters and other documents for business liaisons. The duties of the Secretary will require a constant use of internet and social media requiring them to be familiar with internet research, uploading and basic editing of photos/videos, blog editing, emailing and on-line public relations.
The Secretary will be expected to make public introductions about the association and its projects when necessary and attain a firm understanding of the association’s objectives towards development of the organization’s network, structures and administration.
He/she will have to organize events, gatherings, connect appointments, keep basic financial and office files, etc. and perform other relevant tasks as prescribed by the Director. Occasional travel and some essential reading are associated with the work requiring someone who is willing to share new ideas, be active, open minded and compassionate about change.
Minimum qualification will not outweigh capacity for self-expression. Efficient written and spoken expression in the English language is a must. Spoken and written French language is an advantage.
