The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng has denied social media claims of a possible internet blackout in the North West and South West regions in the days ahead.
As the highly anticipated day i.e. October 1st draws near, an unfounded news have been circulating in the Social Media that the Government of Cameroon will Shut down Internet in the two anglophone regions (NW&SW) like they did during the early months of 2017.
The author of the fake news advised the Southern Cameroonians to download a certain App that will enable them to share files without internet access. That was a hoax geared towards promoting an Android App.
The MINPOSTEL boss;Minette Libom Li Likeng, made public a press release signed on Wednesday 27th September 2017 in which she strongly condemns users of the social media, who use the platform for selfish and destructive purposes.
As a wake-up call, the Minister under the instructions of the Prime Minister and Head of Government; Philemon Yang, reminds all Cameroonians to adhere to the rules and regulations enforced in the country. You may be sentenced to 20 years in prison if found guilty of slander or propagating false declarations on the social media.
